Shinsuke Kobayashi

Shinsuke Kobayashi is a partner of the Kanagawa International Law Office. After working for 15 years at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer he joined the Kanagawa International Law Office as partner in November 2016. He represents Japanese and multinational clients mainly in financial institutions sector on wide range of transactions with focus on finance transactions. He speciallised in various types of finance transactions including acquisition finance, banking, PIPEs, aircraft finance, project finance, securitization and other structured finance. He also has extensive experience with finance transaction related regulatory matters as well as M&S transactions of financial institutions. He has also been involved in litigation on derivative mis-selling cases.

On acquisition finance his clients include both international PE firms and Japanese banks, which gives him deep understanding of Japanese market as well as overseas markets.

  • London Stock Exchange on its joint venture with the Tokyo Stock Exchange to establish the TOKYO AIM market and subsequent exit.
  • Sompo Japan Insurance Inc. in connection with its acquisition of a 50 percent interest in the common shares and a portion of preferred shares of the Brazilian insurance company Maritima Seguros S.A.
